Last fall, we decided to freshen up our kitchen cabinets. The old oak cabinets made the room feel dark and drab. Rather than purchasing new cabinets or paying to have them refaced, we decided to paint them with this kit from Home Depot. It is a three step system that came with everything we needed (other than paint brushes) to complete the project.

(Underneath the bar area, we applied wainscoting wallpaper we found at Lowe's, and painted it white.)

Raised Garden Beds
I showed my husband, Jud, some pictures of raised garden beds I liked on Pinterest. He came up with his own version, and I love these even more than the ones I showed him. He built four beds, and connected the middle two with some fencing to create an arbor for my climbing plants.
In that first bed (on the far left), all I planted was two zucchini plants! My favorite plants for the arbor are mini pumpkins, cucumbers, and squash (spaghetti, butternut, and summer).

Shed/Playhouse/Chicken Coop
My husband wanted to build a shed. I wanted a playhouse for the kids. Life is all about compromise. :) While we were at it, we decided to add a place for some chickens. Here is our completed shed/playhouse/chicken coop.
Also, if you can't find a slide to fit your playhouse dimensions, just make your own out of unused sewer pipe!
The ladder leads to this hatch door, which in on a hydraulic hinge.
Inside, I decided to paint the walls with "framed" quotes.
The kids each got to paint in a frame as well. James chose to paint Mario.
